Charleston Cool

It's been a busy summer of travel!  In the last two months, I've visited five states and two countries, so it feels good to be home in Colorado until September!  Our family took a road trip through the Carolinas these past couple of weeks and visited the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina.

We stayed at a cute hotel called the Andell Inn in the area of John's Island, Seabrook Island, and Kiawah Island.  It was so beautiful- but mostly, it was HOT! I quickly realized my wardrobe is not cut out for 100 degree temperatures! The biggest fashion goal of this trip was just to keep cool, which meant shorts and tanks everywhere we went.

Historic Downtown Charleston was probably the coolest place we saw.  Every building was beautiful, and we saw one of Charleston's most famous features- the cobblestone streets!  I had never seen anything like it and there were even horse-drawn carriages giving tours through the grounds.  We ate at an amazing southern restaurant called Magnolia's, and it was some of the best food I've ever eaten!  We also saw Rainbow Row and the Pineapple Fountain, two major staples of the city.

If you've never been to Charleston, definitely put it on your bucket list!  It really is a historical and cultural epicenter of Southern lifestyle, and a completely 180 from the Pacific Northwest.  Beautiful as it was, Seattle still has my heart! :)
