Ways to Wear: Workout Leggings

I’m no workout expert by any means— when I see one of those fabulous fit ladies walking down the streets of NYC in their tiniest sports bras and most confident expression I can’t help but bow down in admiration. Even though I’m not going to win any awards for going to the gym often enough any time soon, athleisure is a style I can get behind any place, any time.

My go-to athletic wear brands are undoubtedly Adidas and New Balance. Nike has gotten a little too mainstream for me and I just can’t trust the quality as much the other two big names out there. Puma is definitely back on the map as well, but I’m a pretty loyal Adidas girl.

That being said, I’m always on the lookout for new workout brands that are a triple threat: comfortable, stylish, and high-quality. When Lilybod reached out to me and offered a trial of their leggings, I couldn’t pass up the cute styles they have. I opted for this sporty chic purple pair and they do not disappoint- seriously so comfy, soft, and stretchy. I would recommend sizing up as they do run a little bit small. Nevertheless, these leggings are my new favorite pair!

In all honesty, standing in the middle of a busy NYC park wearing a sports bra and leggings was a pretty huge feat for me. I’m well aware I don’t have a six-pack and probably never will—but shooting these looks made me realize I’m proud to live an active lifestyle even if it doesn’t include lifting weights daily. I’m happy to feel healthy and confident in my own skin, and cute workout gear always adds to this feeling in the best way!

While I do love running, ab exercises, and group classes like Pure Barre or Yoga, my lifestyle is far too busy to get into a regular gym routine. If you’re anything like me, going to school full time, working part time, blogging, homework, friends/family, and any extracurriculars take up most of your daily life. Usually, I’m so exhausted by the end of the day I truly can’t imagine jumping on a treadmill; and the idea of waking up early to work out means missing out on rare, precious moments of sleep.

So, although I’m not a model fitness influencer by any means, I am really excited to feel good in my own skin- so good that I was willing to put myself out there for this photoshoot and have a lot of fun with it! When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, I can share a few tips that help me to keep up with my health when life is especially busy.

  1. Lately I have been walking everywhere in NYC. I walk to and from work 3-4 days a week which is about 2 miles round trip. Walk while the weather is nice as much as possible!

  2. I’ve been working hard to remind myself to drink water often and keep hydrated. I carry a cute Swell bottle everywhere which is a great reminder to keep up with hydration.

  3. I’ve been taking great care of my skin, too, making sure to wash my face 1-2 times daily and use moisturizer constantly. Of course, Glossier has helped me so much with this. An important reminder that makeup will never make you feel as good as healthy skin does!!

  4. Since I’m around so many germs and new people constantly, I wash my hands and use hand sanitizer ALL. THE. TIME. I truly think this has saved my life so far this school year.

  5. I’ve been drinking Emergen-C several times a week any time I feel a sore throat or stuffy nose coming on. It changes lives, but only if you get the orange flavor.

  6. Sleep!!! Sleep is my best friend. I try to get 9 hours a night (yeah right) which I would highly recommend.

Now let’s get to the good stuff- outfit deets!!! I wanted to style these leggings with two different jackets to show their versatility. I started off with a burgundy hoodie from Abercrombie- they always have soft and sporty ones! Here’s a similar style. My Adidas sneakers are insanely comfortable- this pair is on Amazon.com for a great price! Love the pink and grey style. For my other look, I paired a silky Adidas jacket I found at the Portland Adidas outlet last year. It’s the perfect weight for a fall workout. I couldn’t find the exact link, but here’s a similar style!
