Layered Up

The fashion world is obsessed with layering right now- and it's so CUTE!  For this look, I wanted to showcase a way to layer a few unexpected pieces.  The key here is really all about color coordination.  Basically anything can work as a layer, so long as the color scheme doesn't clash!

I started with this crushed velvet dress from Zara.  I love that it has a unique texture, but the solidarity of a single color makes it a perfect layering piece.  (Also, it's on major SALE!)

The next layer is the most unlikely pairing in my opinion, but it totally works!  The contrast of a night-out look and an athleisure type of sweatshirt makes for a cute casual look that could be worn day or night.  Now, we've taken a night look to a day look with a single layer.  I love the color of this Free People sweatshirt.  (Side Note- Free People has so many cute pieces in their FP Movement collection right now for athletic wear and comfortable clothing!)  The oversized sleeves and neck-hole add simple texture to the crushed velvet.

The final layer is this Abercrombie Faux Fur coat that I'm clearly obsessed with.  The fur adds another texture that compliments the velvet nicely.  We only have a peek of velvet at the hem of the sweatshirt now, so the textures aren't overwhelming.  Yellow gold, burgundy, and brown are working well together!  The fur has once again amped up the look and you're ready to go out for the night!

Simple black booties add levels to the look but don't take away from the focus of the clothing.  Next time you want to change up and outfit and add some versatility, try some unexpected layers!

Have a fabulous week and layer up!!
